Sclerostin (SOST) is a protein that is produced by osteocytes, these cells are mainly found in bone tissues. It is a family member of the inhibitory secreted frizzled-related proteins (SFRPs). It is a single polypeptide chain with a molecular weight of 25 kDa. SOST contains a cysteine-rich region that is predominately responsible for its inhibitory activity. towards the Wnt signalling pathway.
