PTN, or pleiotrophin, is a developmentally regulated protein that is highly concentrated in the brain and bone during neonatal development but expressed at lower levels in many tissues in adults. By binding cell surface receptors, pleiotrophin activates signalling influencing cell proliferation, migration, and survival.
